I was recently told that one of my images of Piccadilly Circus in London (listed with Alamy) was licensed by the The Telegraph newspaper in June. Below are a couplescreenshots from the Telegraph website. It was licensed for use in print too but I haven’t been able to find a copy of that so far, since it was quite a long time ago!

Alamy kindly also chose to use the image as the featured photograph on their worldwide iPad app on Tuesday 6th Sept 2011 (last week) too. Not being lucky enough to own an iPad myself, while in London on that Tuesday, I located an Apple store and downloaded the free app onto an in-store iPad to see the photo on one for myself. The kind Apple folk in the shop even let me take a shot of it, so that’s below too.

    you pimp daddy. nice one.

would have been nice of Alamy to somehow tell you at the time.

and would have been nicer still if it said your name too.. :)

    • Thanks JC :)

In Alamy’s defence it is apparently standard practice for them to be informed by the client a couple of months after publication, at least with this client anyway. It’s also common (a shame though) for bylines not to display photographers’ names, however I think this is probably a decision made by the publication rather than the library.
