‘Lite’
Burke + Norfolk + Alick
After being a fan of Simon Norfolk’s portrait work in Afghanistan (I don’t like the non-portrait stuff in that series so much), posing mainly military personnel in similar stances to people in images taken by John Burke before him, I decided to make my own after my first time paintballing. With my phone.
An example of Norfolk’s:
Mine. That’s me on the right.
Easter Images
Not all Easter-related… but I have been in Wales seeing my parents for a week and have naturally taken some images. I nearly always bring a camera back with me, but choosing which is often a struggle.
Today we went to my favourite place in the world (so far), which I consider to be one of the most beautiful places in world. So beautiful in fact, that I don’t tell anybody where it is, I don’t want to share it! It is in Wales though, so that narrows it down…
I also visited my brother and his wife in North Wales, and (despite being an atheist) attended a sunrise service on Easter Sunday on the top of a hill after getting up at 5:45am. I must be mad, but it was an interesting experience and therefore worth it. Had the weather been good, the views and sunrise could have made for spectacular photographs. Unfortunately the weather was not good. However I still found the whole event interesting and think the photo below is of the sort that I intended to leave with anyway.
Here’s another random shot I like a lot:
I feel a bit like I am only saying ‘I like this picture because I like it.’ etc. but I think I need to live with images for a while before I can really see what they mean to me, I do know inside, but it is hard to explain…
Finally, nothing special photo-wise, but the weather continues to astound me sometimes – it can be just amazing. This is outside tonight, a feast for the eyes.
School Kids vs Mounted Police
It’s not everyday that you look outside to see the local school kids being rounded up and escorted home by mounted police…
(Or perhaps it just wasn’t an everyday thing when I was growing up…)
theprintspace Search for Exhibitors
I was kindly asked to judge theprintspace’s Flickr competition for March. I chose this image by Blazej Marczak, and a summary of why is over on theprintspace Flickr page.
